Welcome to Our Blog!

"betwEEn the lines" is the creative brain-child of Ellie and Emily, two sophomore Journalism students in Mary Carey's Journalism 300: Newswriting and Reporting at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. It will serve to showcase our work throughout the semester, in addition to giving us some practice operating a blog. Show us some love with frequent visits (and comments if you're so inclined). Stay tuned for some great stuff - you won't be disappointed.

About Us

Emily Bedenkop is a sophomore Journalism and Political Science major at UMass Amherst. She periodically writes for the Daily Collegian, and has a show Sunday mornings on WMUA, 91.1 FM. A Wellesley, Mass. native, Bedenkop worked last summer for her town's newspaper, the Wellesley Townsman

Though most of her time and love is of course dedicated to journalism, Bedenkop's other interests include hiking with the UMass Outing Club, reading for fun (yes, that's still a thing), watching old movies, and simultaneously loving winter weather and wishing desperately for summer to come already.

Ellie Harte is a sophomore Journalism and Political Science major at UMass Amherst. She lives in West Roxbury, Mass. She has been writing in some form or another for as long as she can remember, whether it's short stories, poetry, attempts at a full-length novel, or journalism pieces. She now writes a personal lifestyle blog, Choose Joy. She is passionate about reading, traveling, and girls' education worldwide, and can't wait to study abroad in Paris next spring. Her favorite book is To Kill a Mockingbird, and her life ambition is pretty much to be Rory Gilmore.
